William Coles, Communications Team
William is a communicator and content creator with a deep-rooted passion for Norway and its strong cultural and commercial ties with the UK. A former team member at the ScaleUp Institute, he now works as a freelance web content writer for the Norwegian-British Chamber of Commerce. He brings valuable experience in crafting compelling narratives through close collaboration with CEOs, founders and industry leaders, showcasing the vitality of Norwegian-British trade across sectors.
William’s connection with Norway began at university, where he became close friends with several Norwegian students. Since then, he has spent significant time in the country, particularly in Oslo, and considers Norway his home away from home. He is also a trustee and council member of the Anglo-Norse Society in London, promoting Norwegian culture in the UK and supporting British students pursuing postgraduate studies in Norway.
(Almost) fluent in Norwegian, William offers a unique cross-cultural perspective in his writing and communications work. He holds a PhD in Classics from Royal Holloway, University of London, where he is also an Honorary Research Fellow. His academic work focuses on rhetoric and political communication and he teaches postgraduate students in this field.
William is driven by a desire to strengthen ties between the UK and Norway, celebrating their shared values of innovation, sustainability, and community.
