Jørn Madslien, Journalist

Jørn Madslien is a journalist, communications professional and managing director of the consultancy Room 7540. With a deep commitment to storytelling and public engagement, Jørn has assembled a dedicated team of volunteers to raise awareness of The Liberation Convoy across both social and traditional media platforms.

Jørn Madslien, journalistA key figure in the convoy’s media outreach, Jørn will join the historic Shetland Bus vessel Erkna on its symbolic crossing from Bergen to Lerwick. He will continue to take an active role as the convoy branches out to ports across the Shetland Islands, the Orkney Islands, Scotland, and England.

Jørn’s involvement is driven by a heartfelt belief in the importance of sharing the stories of Norwegian war sailors and resistance fighters who bravely opposed Nazi occupation. He is passionate about telling the tales of mariners, soldiers, spies and saboteurs who operated under the command of the Norwegian King and government-in-exile in London during World War II.

This dedication is deeply personal. Jørn’s grandfather, Jørgen Madslien, was a war hero who resisted the German invasion as a military officer and later as part of the Norwegian resistance. He was eventually captured, tortured and imprisoned in the notorious Sachsenhausen concentration camp near Berlin. Remarkably, he survived and was freed at the end of the war.

We are truly grateful to Jørn for his unwavering support and outstanding contribution to The Liberation Convoy 2025. His expertise, enthusiasm, and personal connection to this history make him an invaluable part of the team.
