Dag Lee, Edinburgh Liaison for the Liberation Convoy, Chairman and CEO, Nile
Based in Edinburgh, Dag Lee has played a pivotal behind-the-scenes role in orchestrating key events for the Liberation Convoy 2025.
With a keen eye for detail and a natural flair for hospitality, Dag has been central to organising receptions at landmark venues such as the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh Castle, aboard Hestmanden, at the Scottish Parliament and even in his own home in the city.
Dag’s involvement extends well beyond mere logistics. His deep passion for commemorating the wartime legacy has driven his efforts to ensure that each gathering, whether formal or intimate, honours the memory of Norway’s wartime seafarers while fostering meaningful connections between Norway and Scotland. His reception at Holyroodhouse brought dignitaries and veterans together; at Edinburgh Castle, he created an atmosphere both respectful and accessible. Onboard Hestmanden he helped craft a memorable event in an authentic maritime setting, while his welcoming presence in his own home added a personal and warm dimension to the Convoy’s visit to the Scottish capital.
Motivated by a profound respect for those who risked everything for freedom, Dag participated in the voyage itself, aboard Erkna from Bergen to Lerwick, a journey echoing the wartime Shetland Bus missions, which symbolised Dag’s personal commitment to bridging past and present.
The team behind the Liberation Convoy extends heartfelt thanks to Dag for his dedication, ingenuity and heartfelt hospitality. Without his efforts, the Convoy’s commemorative events in Edinburgh would not have carried the same resonance, warmth or historical continuity, and the crossing itself would’ve been less meaningful without him.
